Common Nouns 普通名词

Nouns in Chinese language are words that denote a person, an item, a location, time or position. The most frequent class of nouns is the common nouns. Common nouns in Chinese language are words that denote a person or an item.

A common noun can function as an object or subject in a sentence.

Examples of common noun as an object in a sentence:

1.    学生跑了。
       The student runs.

2.    巴士来了
       The bus is here.

3.    园丁笑了。
       The gardener smiled.

Examples of common noun as a subject in a sentence:

1.    司机把车停下。
       The driver stopped his car.

2.    我认识那学生
        I know that student.

3.    园丁在挖泥土。
      The gardener digs the soil.
