Shanghai Taxi Services

 Shanghai Taxis

Shanghai City has more than 50,000 taxis. Taxis in Shanghai are considered very safe and reliable. The taxi’s registration plate number and the taxi’s company complain phone number are prominently displayed in the car. All the taxis charged according to what is displayed on the meter at the end of the trip.

There are numerous taxi companies of different colored cars. Among them, the sky-blue colored Dazhong Taxi Company is the most reputable taxi company among the locals. Other commonly seen taxi companies include Qiangsheng (Orange), Jinjiang (White), Fanlanhong (Red), Haibo (Sapphire Blue), Bashi (Green) and Lanse Lianmeng (Navy Blue).

Taxi is an inexpensive, safe and convenient way to move around Shanghai City. If you are moving around with companions it might be more worthwhile and economical to share a taxi then to try taking the metro and public buses.

During rush hour peak periods, raining days and on long public holidays, taxis can be in short supply in Shanghai City. You are advised to plan your journey accordingly during these times to allow for a longer waiting time. All hotels would gladly call a taxi for their guests.

Alternatively, you may wish to book a taxi in advance. Below are the booking numbers; Dazhong (021-96822), Qiangsheng (021-62580000), Jinjiang (021-96961), Bashi (021-96840) and Haibo (021-96965).

Should you have any reason to lodge a complaint, you may call 021-63232150 or the specific taxi company whose numbers are prominently displayed in all their cars.
