Zhujiajiao is an ancient water village located in the suburb of Shanghai City in the Qingpu District. The village was believed to exist some 1,700 years ago although archeological records dating back more than 5,000 years have been found. The village is a collection of antique houses, classical gardens, old streets and ancient stone bridges that surrounded a maze of streams and canals. There are still villagers living in these houses by the water front today, and it is not uncommon to spot them washing their clothes along the canals. Zhujiajiao Water Village is also well-known for the many local delights such as dumplings and cakes. Copyright @ www.eChinaExpat.com
