Xuzhou City (徐州市) is a city in northwest Jiangsu Province which serves as an important transportation hub for the region. Xuzhou is the birthplace of Liu Bang, the first emperor of the Han Dynasty. As such, there are numerous Han related cultural remnants in Xuzhou. The more well-known attractions include the Terracotta Army of Han, the Mausoleum of the Emperors of Han and the Han Dynasty Stone Carvings Museum. Natural attractions include the Yunlong (Dragon in Clouds) Mountain with Buddha sculptures and cliff inscriptions, as well as the nearby Yunlong Lake which is considered the sister lake of Hangzhou’s famous West Lake. In addition, Xuzhou is home to several specialty villages and counties. The most famous is the Peixian County which is the birthplace of Chinese Wushu where most people are martial arts experts; there is also a Qijia Village in Pixian County where everyone is an expert in the game of chess; as well as the Mazhuang Village which is famous for folk culture performances.
