Hong Kong Attractions Victoria Peak | Victoria Harbor | Ngong Ping 360 | Big Buddha | Hong Kong Disneyland |
The Victoria Peak is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hong Kong. At an altitude of 552 meters, the Victoria Peak is the tallest mountain on Hong Kong Island. The Victoria Peak was originally chosen to be the site of a signaling post for incoming shipping traffic during the British colonial era; as such it offers unparallel and spectacular view of the Victoria Harbor and the surrounding financial district. The Victoria Peak is served by the Peak Tram, a light railway running 1.6 kilometers from the central financial district right up to the top of the Victoria Peak. The Peak Tram has a history of more than 120 years old and offers the most direct access to the Peak and the surrounding views. Riding the Peak Tram itself is an experience with the gradient of the route increasing to near vertical at some stage of the ascent. Apart from the stunning views, the Victoria Peak is also well known for its vast greenery of tropical forests and birdlife. The Victoria Peak Garden is a favorite outing place for families and school children. The Victoria Peak is also served by numerous signature restaurants and a 360 degree viewing gallery called the Sky Terrace. Copyright @ www.eChinaExpat.com
