The Tiananmen Square is a large parade square sited in the middle of Beijing City. It is also the largest city square in the world and is made famous by many of the historical events that unfolded here.

The Tiananmen Square lies between the Tiananmen Gate and Zhengyangmen Gate. On its two sides are the Great Hall of the People and National Museum of China respectively. Other tourist attractions in the area include the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall, the Tiananmen Tower and the Monument to the People’s Heroes.

In addition, the public may witness the flag raising and lowering ceremonies conducted at Tiananmen Square daily. The timing of the flag raising and lowering ceremonies differ every single day according to the time of sunrise and sunset throughout the year.
